Muskegon County

The opioid overdose epidemic is killing thousands of people, and hundreds have lost their lives to accidental overdose in the Muskegon area. However, every opioid overdose fatality is preventable. Naloxone (also known as Narcan®) is a prescription medication that can safely and effectively rescue a friend, family member, or community member from an opioid overdose. Naloxone rescue kits are available at no cost to eligible community member through the Muskegon Overdose Prevention Program.

This program has already been successful in the Grand Rapids area with over 5,000 people trained and resulting in over 600 lives saved since 2008. This program has begun to show results in the Muskegon area as well with over 900 kits distributed and over 30 reported reversals since 2015!
