HIV and Hep C Testing

October 1, 2018 @ 1:00 pm - 3:30 pm

The Grand Rapids Red Project provides free, confidential, and anonymous rapid HIV and Hepatitis C testing by appointment and at community outreach locations. Testing is performed by highly qualified HIV/Hepatitis C test counselors, requires only a small blood sample from a fingerstick, and can deliver a result in less than 30 minutes.

HIV

HIV is not a death sentence. Knowing your status is crucial. Successful treatment for an individual living with HIV can extend their life expectancy to be equivalent to a person that is not living with HIV. HIV is generally spread by the 1/8 of HIV positive individuals who don’t know they have it. Early diagnosis and treatment are key components to establishing and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

Hepatitis C

An estimated 10,000 people are living with Hepatitis C in Kent County. Chronic Hepatitis C can lead to cirrhosis of the liver and even cancer. Often, the symptoms do not become apparent for several years. Because of the late onset of symptoms, early detection via testing is key!

The Grand Rapids Red Project offers free and confidential Hepatitis C testing, with results in under 30 minutes.
