You'll get trained right here in our GR Hall St office, even receiving an HIV Test Counselor certification. This is a wonderful opportunity to get involved, and truly benefit the folks living in your community.

Knowing your status is vital - this is a way to give back!

Red Project is proud to announce our partnership with Corewell Health's Center for Integrative Medicine where you can set up a visit right here with us to get started.

These are simultaneously true ideas - RP takes both into account & provides life, safety and tools to maintain health/stability for people using substances.

Treatment in the form of detox and rehab doesn't solve the overdose crisis on its own. When people still have to navigate poverty, unstable housing, criminalization, returning to unsafe settings, and an unregulated/poisoned drug supply — then treatment caters to the public rather than actually helping address root causes of overdose/fentanyl poisonings.

“Well they just need to go to rehab and they’ll be fine.” is a dangerous sentiment when there are so many barriers to maintaining progress when immediately released back into the same environments without the tools and resources to stay healthy and safe.

These facilities and programs *are* needed, but we MUST have steps between active use and cessation/recovery to keep folks safer. That’s where #HarmReduction and Red Project step in.

These last few years we’ve seen overdoses and fentanyl poisonings continue to skyrocket - and RP is actively working to save lives and provide better access to tools that keep folks safe.

Red Project recognizes that we are standing and living on stolen land - taken with genocide. Here’s an article outlining the damage we do by thoughtlessly celebrating Thanksgiving as a celebration of pilgrims and native Americans being “friends”. It was one dinner in 1621. Then outright genocide until 1924. In the name of white supremacy.

Which is also why we deeply recognize the immigrant labor that allows food to come to our tables this week, for many populations are impacted by the everlasting force of colonization in the United States - specifically immigrant populations. If you’re not Native American, you’re the descendant of an immigrant too.

We have a long way to go in fully recognizing and celebrating the history and peoples of this country correctly.

Language matters. Terms like addict and alcoholic can absolutely be terms that an individual chooses to use for themselves.

However - it is each individuals choice to use a label that began as a stigmatizing one.

When an outsider does so, it’s not the same. We bring in untrue and dangerous stigmatizing ideas when we slap a label on someone. Be intentional, and say what you mean.
