Who We Are

The Grand Rapids Red Project is a 501c3 non-profit organization dedicated to improving health, reducing harm, and preventing HIV. Since 1998, we have served the state of Michigan by providing people with access to the tools, information, resources, and support that one needs to stay healthy. We are also advocates - we work to improve the lives of our participants by encouraging legislative change, and to challenge stigma and social norms.

We maintain a focus on empowering individuals to make any positive change, as they define it for themselves, in their own lives, and their communities.

  • The Grand Rapids Red Project provides free case management, recovery coaching and harm reduction services to the West Michigan community.

  • Red Project case management and linkage to care services allow individuals living with or at risk for HIV to manage their health and create a healthy plan of care.

  • Harm reduction and recovery coaching services provided by the Red Project allow individuals to live and support a healthy lifestyle and any positive change - defined for themselves.

During 2023, our programs:

Gave out 19,415 Naloxone rescue kits

Distributed 1,917,218 sterile syringes and 29,813 health supplies throughout the West Michigan area

Provided 318 HIV tests and 120 Hepatitis C tests, free of charge, to the community

Reported 320 overdose reversals from community members
