Out-reach

The extending of services or assistance beyond current or usual limits.

Street Outreach

Street Outreach is a brief intervention conducted one-on-one with individuals at increased risk for HIV/AIDS, hepatitis C or overdose, in settings where they socialize or congregate. This is one of the best ways to reach people who need our services because we are literally meeting people where they are. During street outreach, there is an exchange of information, usually accompanied with a provision of supplies (such as male or female condoms, lube, etc.).

Volunteers who are interested in participating in Street Outreach attend an HIV/AIDS training session, tour the grand rapids Red project’s programs and services, and are trained in the fundamentals of how to do

Event Outreach

As a way of engaging different communities of potential clients and supporters, the grand rapids Red project has a presence at various community wide events throughout the year. This often includes a booth or table with staff and volunteers ready to answer questions or provide immediate mini-training sessions for those interested in HIV prevention as well as our numerous programs, services and volunteer opportunities. We also provide literature on HIV/AIDS, hepatitis C, overdose prevention, as well as safer sex supplies.

Various events include:

  • West Michigan PRIDE Festival
  • Hispanic Festival
  • Eastown Streetfair
  • Carnival of Chaos (Heavy Metal Summer Festival)
  • And many more…
